Living on Purpose

A way to study how you live your life — notice habits, relieve tension,

experience fresh choice, act with clarity.

A 9-Month Group Study

of the Contemporary Alexander Technique

SEPTEMBER 2026 – MAY 2027

About this Program

This nine-month program offers an immersive, unhurried path into the Alexander Technique — its history, its principles, and the lived practice of applying them to your everyday movement and thought.

Rooted in the lineage of F. M. Alexander and carried forward through Marjorie Barstow’s group-centered teaching, this training follows the Contemporary Alexander School’s approach: a living, evolving study that meets students where they are. Each session weaves hands-on exploration with group inquiry and conversation.

Over the course of the year you will develop an understanding of how habits — physical, mental, emotional — shape the quality of your movement and your attention. You will practice noticing, pausing, and choosing differently. You will learn how to apply these principles in daily life: in how you sit, walk, speak, work, and rest.
